Born Albert George Webb in Ipswich in 1869.
Here he is in his younger days!
He went to Guernsey where he fell in love with Frances!
A studio photo, he often wore a straw hat!

He was   also an accomplished ventriloquist, musician and composer
Albert and Frances left Guernsey in 1914 and moved to Dorset and had one daughter, my nan, Vera (known as Mollie)

Albert and his mother Mary and Mollie as a baby.
this photo was taken in 1918 in Ealing.
Mollie knew her grandmother as "Granny Day"
Mary and Albert left Ipswich in the 1870's and moved to Reading, Berkshire
where she met Thomas Day. Thomas appears to have "adopted" Albert and they went on to have more children.   The family later moved to West Ham, London. The name Day was later used as inspiration for Albert's stage name "Deighton"

With daughter Mollie taken about 1933.
They moved from Dorset in the 1920's to Horley, Surrey.
Albert was the manager of the local Cinema and Mollie joined him as an Usherette.

Albert died in 1934 of stomach cancer.
He is buried in Horley, Surrey with his wife Frances.
